The world’s first hard drive to be compatible with Google Chromecast (sold separately), the Canvio® Aerocast™ Portable Hard Drive allows users to stream videos to a HDTV via Chromecast. As a wireless storage device, it also lets users save digital content from mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, as well as to archive photos from camera with its built-in SD card slot.
“Storage needs are changing. By understanding the importance of mobility, we have taken storage to the next level. With integrated wireless capabilities, we empower our users to share and stream their personal digital content the way they want, wirelessly,” said Maki Yamashita, General Manager of Mobile Computing Solutions & Devices Division, Toshiba Singapore Pte. Ltd. “The Canvio® AeroCast™ Wireless Hard Drive fills a real need for consumers – they are now able to enjoy the content that they own, wirelessly on home television.”
Works with Google Chromecast
Watch your favourite movies wirelessly from the Canvio® Aerocast™ on the large screen. All you need to do is download Toshiba’s Google Cast Ready app (available free on Apple’s App store and Google Play store) to stream videos from the Canvio® AeroCast™ to a Chromecast connected to HDTV.
Save photos and videos from your mobile device wirelessly
The Canvio® Aerocast™ Portable Hard Drive is perfect for backing up all your photos and videos wirelessly from your smartphone or tablet. You can also share your entire digital library with family and friends through the device’s own local Wi-Fi® connection.
The device has a battery life of up to five hours3 and can connect simultaneously with up to six devices, which makes accessing and sharing files from your digital library easier than ever.
Built-in SD card slot
Digital photography enthusiasts now do not have to worry about running out of storage space. With the built-in SD card slot on the Canvio® Aerocast™ Portable Hard Drive, they can easily backup digital photos and videos from their SD or microSD cards (SD card adaptor required for microSD cards), directly to the Canvio® AeroCast™. What’s more, they will be able to view contents instantly via the mobile app.
Uninterrupted Internet access on your mobile device
In most cases, users will lose connection to their wireless router when their mobile device is connected to a wireless device, hence losing their Internet access. However, with the Canvio Aerocast’s Internet pass-through mode, users can simultaneously access the Wireless Hard Drive and the Internet.
Availability
The Canvio® Aerocast Wireless Portable Hard Drive will be launched at Sitex 2015, 26th – 29th November 2015.

1One Gigabyte (1GB) means 109 = 1,000,000,000 bytes and One Terabyte (1TB) means 1012 = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes using powers of 10. A computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1GB = 230 = 1,073,741,824 bytes and 1TB = 240 = 1,099,511,627,776 bytes, and therefore shows less storage capacity. Available storage capacity (including examples of various media files) will vary based on file size, formatting, settings, software and operating system and other factors.
